National Public Holidays

Introduction

Here in Egypt, certain dates are designated as official vacations, and these may be national, regional or local. The public holidays are paid vacations for employees of both the public and private sectors. These vacations come in fixed and movable days as well. The fixed ones are related to the universal calendar, while the movable ones come related to religious occasions; Islamic vacations depend on Lunar Islamic calendar which determines the proper days of Islamic ritual holidays, and festivals related to orthodox Easter.
